Masterwork Finale

Overview

The festival concludes with J.S. Bach's exuberant and virtuosic Magnificat set for chamber orchestra, choir, and vocal soloists. A rarely performed Magnificat by Johann Kuhnau, Bach's predecessor in Leipzig, opens the concert revealing fascinating similarities between the music of two 18th Century Leipzig composers.
