Emerging Artist Program
Bach Roots Festival announces the 3rd Annual Emerging Artist Program for aspiring professional singers whose socio-cultural identities have historically been excluded in Baroque music. The week long program takes place June 16-22 in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN and includes professional solo and chorister experience, vocal coachings, career mentorship, compensation, travel stipend, and accommodations. Applications are due Friday, April 19 at 5:00pm (CST)

Len Crino | Soprano
​
Len Crino is a transgender, classical soprano from Joliet, IL. Having received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, Len will be pursuing a Master of Opera at McGill University over the next two years. At Lawrence University, Len participated in several choral ensembles, recital collaborations, orchestral and choral masterworks, and opera productions, as well as two solo recitals. Len was recently a featured soloist in Lawrence University’s spring Masterwork, and also held a lead in the Conservatory’s winter production of Melissa Dunphy and Jacqueline Goldfinger’s new opera, Alice Tierney.

Jordan Jones | Countertenor

Jordan Jones, a native of Saint Louis, Missouri, has just finished their undergraduate studies at the USC Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Thomas Michael Allen, after studying as a baritone and countertenor. This upcoming fall he will be attending the Manhattan School of Music to begin his masters in voice. This past spring, he performed as an alto soloist in Kaija Saariaho’s La Passion de Simone at USC. Last fall, Jordan performed the role of Le Comte in Massanet’s Cherubin also at USC. Fall of 2022, Jordan covered the role of Refugee in Flight by Jonathan Dove. He also performed in the Los Angeles Opera Chorus in their season’s production of Omar by Rhiannon Gibbens and Michael Abels. He made his professional opera debut playing Marie’s Son in Berg’s opera Wozzeck at the Saint Louis Symphony in 2012. The following season, he performed in the world premiere of Champion by Terence Blanchard at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis where he played Little Emile. He has also performed with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in their productions of La BoheÌ€me in the children’s chorus. Recently, he won the Judges’ Award at the Opera Buffs Artists of the Future Competition. Last year, he was also a semifinalist for the Schmidt Undergraduate Voice Competition.
