A Magnificat Festival Finale

Overview

Our 2020 festival finale pairs a beloved masterwork alongside a rarely performed gem. Hear  J.S. Bach's exuberant and virtuosic Magnificat alongside the Magnificat written by his predecessor in Leipzig, Johann Kuhnau. Many of Kuhnau's compositions are lost, but his Magnificat remains and shares fascinating similarities with J.S. Bach's setting.
